Josh was an outstanding soccer player who earned All-Region, All State, All Long Island, and league MVP honors in both his junior and senior years at Comsewogue HS in Port Jefferson Station NY, while helping his team win back-to-back state championship titles.

But Josh’s real legacy was his ability to make the players around him better. He was the ultimate team player- his goal was the win, not his personal stats.

Newsday, a local publication, said, “ Butzke, a pinpoint passer, was the major playmaker for Comsewogue.”

While Josh excelled in soccer, and would go on to play four years at D1 Bucknell University, he understood the value of teamwork, getting an education, and living life to the fullest.
